History

The Vallongue estate covers 300 ha of scrubland and rocks in the towns of Eygalières and Saint Rémy de Provence. The estate is located at the bottom of the long valley, the “Vallongue”, whose road was the ancient Roman road which linked Rome to Spain.

100 years ago, the estate housed a sheepfold. It was not until the 1970s that the property, which had become a meeting place for hunting, handed over to Mr Paul-Cavalier his unsuspected treasures of terroirs for the cultivation of vines. By dint of patience and hard work, Mr. Paul-Cavalier was able to create the 38 ha of vines while preserving the magic of the place. In this wild setting, it is only natural that the Vallongue estate was converted to organic farming in 1985.

In 2008, Mr. Christian Latouche, already owner of a beautiful olive grove, fell in love with the magic of the place and took over the reins of the estate to continue this great adventure.

Terroir

An ORGANIC Terroir since 1985, always elegant.

The typicality

Thanks to an effort carried out over more than 40 years, the estate has been able to select 38ha of plots between cliffs and scrubland. Today, this plot approach allows us to bring out the quintessence of exceptional terroirs each year.

Respect for an exceptional environment

The particular climatic conditions of the Eygalières region have naturally encouraged us to produce organic grapes since 1985. Purely natural fertilization, no fertilizers, insecticides or synthetic pesticides, respect for the natural cycle with the complicity of the mistral … all the conditions for an unvarnished expression of the typicity of the estate’s wines, on soils facing south and limestone soils.

The Baux de Provence

At the foot of the Alpilles, a massif with picturesque relief bevelled by erosion, Les Baux de Provence is a paradise for vines and olive trees.

Area of the entire appellation: 350ha spread over 12 producers, 85% of which are organic grapes.

Total production of the appellation: Almost 9000 hl

Dominant grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache blanc, Rolle, Clairette
